MATTHEW TONER candidate for nomination

CAN WE DO IT

It’s time for a change, and as one of us, I trust Matt to bring that change.

I’ve known Matt for the past 5 years. We have shared in the challenges that entrepreneurs face when starting companies in BC. He knows better than anyone (LIberal, Conservative, or NDP) what it takes to help build more technology jobs here in BC.  Also, as former CEO of the BC Innovation Council, I have witnessed the lack of commitment from the current government to do what is needed to compete on the world stage. It’s time for a change, and as one of us, I trust Matt to bring that change.

Matt Toner has impressed me as someone who is ready to take action in order to preserve the wonderful natural beauty of British Columbia.

Our planet is facing monumental challenges and how we cope with them will determine our shared destiny. Through his new works with the United Nations Environmental Program, Matt Toner has impressed me as someone who understands this simple truth and is ready to take action in order to preserve the wonderful natural beauty of British Columbia.

I support his candidacy and I hope you will too.

Matt toner’s candidacy is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the New Democratic Party.

I have seen Vancouver become a truly great center for cross-media creativity and am convinced that it can become a leader on the world stage. But I also know how quickly that potential can be squandered without people who can articulate a vision for significant industry growth and bring others to this cause. Matt Toner is one of those people. He understands the stakes for Vancouver and is able to build the partnerships, talent and capabilities necessary to realize that potential. His candidacy is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the New Democratic Party.

He’s got my support because he’s the kind of leader we need to navigate these challenging times.

Matt will be great for the NDP and for BC. Great for the NDP because he fills a gap of progressive business people with a proven track record of getting things done in a complex world. Great for BC because he has a clear and compelling vision for helping creative entrepreneurs and employees transform our economy.

He’s got my support because he’s the kind of leader we need to navigate these challenging times.

While I admire anyone who puts their time and passion into public service, we need to find a new kind of candidate who understands the complexities of these times.

While I admire any candidate who puts their time and passion into the sometimes thankless task of public service, the times are changing, and the need to find a new kind of candidate who understands the complexities of these times, is critical.

Someone who will fight the fight that is needed to represent the green industries and screen-based industries in this province. Someone who has run businesses, employed people, understands the drivers of business, and particularly the drivers of technology-reliant businesses.

I strongly endorse Matt Toner and his sense of social entrepreneurship, innovation and dedication for the New Democratic Party.

In the 90s, during on the greatest economic booms of our time, people like Matt and myself could have done anything with our careers. We chose to directly better the lives of the millions of Americans living with disabilities by creating an online media company dedicated to that purpose.

Matt is part of the new breed who are fiscally responsible, but who understand that this is only a means to the real end: sustainable social progress.

I have known Matt for a number of years now and have witnessed his commitment and sensitivity to social issues. During this same period of time I have seen him him grow his business by having vision, being adaptable and astute - this albeit during a time of recession.

Matt has a great grasp of nuances while also being able to see the bigger picture. Matt is part of the new breed who are fiscally responsible, but who understand that this is only a means to the real end: sustainable social progress.

Kudos to Matt for taking this important step for the BC media industry.

Kudos to Matt for taking this important step for the BC media industry. I wish Saskatchewan’s creators had shouted louder about the benefits of their industry prior to the loss of the Film Tax Credit. Few thought there was a threat and trusted things to remain status quo. Now there are only whispers of the industry that once was, and sadness as our people leave.

My sincere best wishes to Matt and his team, I know they won’t let it happen in BC.

Matt Toner has the qualifications to tackle these problems and that’s why I’m supporting the NDP.

I feel that politics and politicians work best when their focus is local. Local problems and local solutions. The particular local problem I am focused is the loss of key high skill media industry jobs due to local government apathy.

Matt Toner has the qualifications to tackle these problems and that’s why I’m supporting the NDP.
